Have you ever heard of Cartago, a town nestled in Colombia?
For our Founder, Angel Galvis, Cartago was home—a place rich with potential yet burdened by significant challenges. Growing up there, Angel witnessed firsthand the struggles of families trapped in cycles of poverty and the barriers that limit access to education, realities that hinder countless children from reaching their full potential. As a teenager, he left, driven by the hope of finding new opportunities, but the stories and needs of Cartago remained etched in his heart.
Now, years later, Angel has returned with a renewed purpose, inspired by a vision for a brighter future for his hometown. Mission Life, he is building a Child Development Center and establishing a new church to address the pressing issues facing the community. Cartago has long been affected by drug violence, poverty, and moral decay, where at-risk children from seven neighborhoods live in environments rife with gang involvement, addiction, and exploitation. Most of these children lack access to quality education, safe spaces, and positive role models. The new center will serve as a refuge and a resource for these children—a nurturing environment where they can learn, find support, and grow. Through this initiative, Mission Life is planting seeds of hope in Cartago, empowering its youth to believe in a future filled with possibilities and transformation.

It is a way for us to contribute to society, a way for us to see with our own eyes how we can change someone’s life for the better and watch their lives transform from miles away. Whether it is through child sponsorship, a general donation, a classroom experience, or a mission trip to meet your child in person, building relationships with children and our partners across the globe empowers all of us to be ChangeMakers for a better world.
Child Sponsorship
We believe that by investing in one life, we can change the world together. Mission Life’s goal is to connect each child with one person who cares. With child sponsorship, the sponsor changes a child’s life by providing basic needs through a monthly donation. This includes the typical barriers to education like school fees, supplies, and uniforms, as well as the following:
TUTORING & HOMEWORK HELP | SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE | A DAILY MEAL | DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS & TALENTS
With these needs met, the sponsor gives their child a hand up. It opens the door to hope and an opportunity to build a fruitful and meaningful life.
Stories of Change
Local Schools
A third-grade classroom hand-wrote letters to children in Colombia. The children at Formavida were overjoyed and wrote back. They all gained a friend but they also learned a valuable lesson about generosity. By taking the time to write, they immediately had an impact on someone’s life.
Sponsor Impact
Relationships are the foundation of Mission Life. When you know someone cares about you and wants the best for you, it builds confidence and self-esteem. At Mission Life, we take child sponsorship to another level. We provide technology so the sponsor and child can interact, get to know each other, and build a positive relationship. The sponsor is able to see, in real time, the difference they are making, and the child has a direct connection to the person who cares about them from miles away.
