What to Expect?

Walk in God’s footsteps by joining your team and serving Him in another country. Step outside your comfort zone and get ready to experience spiritual growth.

Location

“Formavida” is Mission Life’s main child development center, located at the North end of Bogota, on top of a hill. The primary mode of “taxi” is riding in the back of a land rover. This is an adventure in itself and an experience that you won’t forget!

Bogota is the capital of Colombia. The city sits at the top of the Andes Mountains (elevation 8661 feet) and is often referred to as the “refrigerator of Colombia.” Bogota’s high elevation results in chilly nights that make for good sweater weather.

Trip Lodging

Mission teams live in the dorms at Formavida during our visits. The women’s wing consists of two rooms (2 bunk beds in each). It sleeps up to 8 women. It has a common area and two small bathrooms with showers.

The directors and pastors, Lucy Lancheros and her husband Ricardo stay at the property with the teams. The men’s dorm is located on the other side of the property. It houses 10-12 men with bathrooms as well. Meals are provided on site.

During your time in Bogota, you will:

  • Participate every day in the Child Development Program with numerous activities such as Bible studies, devotionals, games, etc

  • Visit two local schools with the Formavida team and present evangelistic activities, plays, worship, and more

  • Visit homes in the community and participate in prayer and fellowship with families in need

  • Participate in asset-based development projects such as construction of the Formavida School, or other projects based on the community needs.

  • Attend partner’s church worship services where one member of the team will have the opportunity to deliver a message

  • Meet and spend time with your sponsor child during the program, accompanying in activities
