Location

The Child Hope Centers are located in the capital city of Kigali. Kigali is located in the center of the country. It sprawls across numerous hills, ridges and valleys. Kigali’s population is 1,169,889 people. Each location has its own building that houses a kitchen, classroom space and staff offices.

 
 
 

Trip Lodging

Mission Trip Teams stay at guest houses in Kigali (usually The Iris Hotel) and towns about an hour outside the rural village location. Meals are usually provided on site and the properties are secured by gates and security staff. 

 
 

Trip Activities

  • Visit and interact with the children at the Child Hope Center

  • Lead children’s activities at the Child Hope Centers

  • Meet and spend time with your sponsor child

  • Meet with the moms and learn more about the women’s cooperatives (small businesses that help them provide for their families)

  • Participate in a home visit to learn more about daily living for Rwandans

  • Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial

  • Visit a Rural Village 

  • Serve and collaborate with faith communities create lasting change through shared learning, encouragement, and fellowship

  • Experience growth in your own spiritual journey

  • Day of Rest and Relaxation: Go on a safari at Akagera National Park

Cost

Cost: $3500

Trip members successfully fundraise a significant portion, if not all of their trip cost. There is usually a group fundraiser as well.

Cost covers flight, transportation, food and lodging, R&R day, translators and asset-based projects. 

Pre-Trip Expectations

Attend 6-7 meetings/trainings within six months prior to the trip, one meeting after returning and complete Discipleship Workbook activities.
