Confess and Believe - Devotional

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” -Romans 10:9

Written by: Krista Collins

This is a familiar verse. It is one we keep on the tip of our tongue and the top of our hearts, ready to share at any moment. This is a beautiful invitation to eternal life.  But, did you happen to catch the order of it?

The first thing to do is “confess” and the second is to “believe.”

He will meet us at our confession and bring us along in our belief. So, whisper confession and He will blow the winds of his grace to strengthen our belief. Speak by faith and watch your faith grow solid in the foundation of belief.

“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” -Mark 9:2

How utterly magnificent is it that God Almighty would meet us at our place of “unbelief” in our believing.

It is His strength we need to believe beyond our understanding. It is the very reason we only need “faith the size of a mustard seed to move mountains.” -Matthew 17:20

So, no matter what you may be facing today; no matter the size of your pain, problem, or panic; no matter the discouragement or doubt that wants to defeat you, your help is only a whisper away.

The work is done.  Jesus declared, “It Is Finished.” We need only to confess and believe. So, whisper your needs to the God who hears. Allow the winds of His grace to blow over you.

Child of God, if He gave His only son to die for you, there is no good thing that he will withhold from you. So, raise your hands in surrender to who He is and all He has done and simply confess and believe.
