Red Sea Moments - Devotional

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still.” -Exodus 14:13-14

I love the story of Moses, the Israelites and the mighty hand of God. My heart races with wild excitement as I picture what it must have been like. These children of God Almighty feeling lost and forgotten, now racing out and the enemy right on their heels. As the sea grew larger, their faith grew smaller.

As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the sea to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?” (Exodus 14:10-11)

The running and the weary can cause the eye of faith to fade and weaken. The waiting is hard.  We want our answers now, our deliverance now, our miracle now. We can struggle to understand why God would bring us to this Red Sea; our toes dipping in the water of impossible.

How we stand on the shore matters. We need to stand firm, stand still, stand knowing and stand in faith believing that this moment is seen by God. Nothing will happen to His children that He does not allow and all things will work for the good for those who love God. We need to stand knowing that the same sea that swallows, is also the sea that saves.

Child of God, remember you are loved and cared for by the Lord most high. When you feel overwhelmed and unheard, hold to the promises of God. His time is not our time. He knows the exact moment of rescue. He is with you. He has promised He will never leave or forsake you.

“The length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord’s divisions left Egypt. Because the Lord kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt.” (Exodus 12:40-42)

430 years to the very day! Hallelujah, we can stand assured that God will in His perfect and exact time, part our Red Sea and we too will walk through on dry ground. Until the splitting of our impossible sea, be sure to stand well, stand still, stand knowing and stand in faith.  Your God sees you. He hears your cries and He will rescue you at the exact right moment.
