The Fullness of God - Devotional

“To know this love that surpasses knowledge -- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19).

Just spend some time sitting right here. This one verse packs a whole lot of wonderful. 

God is love. Love is not something He does, it is who He is. And in relationship with Him we automatically grow. Spending time in His word and in prayer are knowledge boosters. Knowledge is power and there is power in love. For the one who will seek Him, there is no limit to what you can do and where you can go. It is His love that surpasses knowledge.

And God loves you so much that He sent Jesus to come and redeem us back. Jesus chose the agonizing way of the cross for you: “The full measure of all the fullness of God.” He is not a stingy God. He sent His one and only son to give us the fullness, so that we can be filled. Such amazing love.

So what will we do with that love, knowledge and grace gift of God? When life throws us a curveball, will we shrink back or step up, knowing that all of our days are “ordained and written before one of them came to be” (Psalm 139:16)?

When the road we are asked to walk turns in an unfamiliar way, what will we do? We can’t be “filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” if we focus on anything else. In Christ alone our hope is found. We need to meet those difficult days those moments of hard and scary on our knees. Lift your hands in trust, knowing that He sees, hears and has a plan. That “He will never leave you or forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).

Child of God, be filled to the full measure of God. Be filled to full in His love. And generously pour that same love out on all you meet. God sent Jesus and Jesus came for the whole world, and just you. Because Jesus cares about ONE. Will you find someONE and pour that life-giving, knowledge-surpassing, peace-possessing love away? 

Let’s grow the kingdom of God one person at a time. Love is the way the kingdom of God will grow.
