What Is Your Mission In Life?

Written by: Evan Jones

A new year brings with it new questions: What am I going to accomplish? What am I going to do differently? What am I going to stop doing? Sometimes these questions, and the answers that accompany them, are helpful and useful—and sometimes they are not.

But one of the best questions we can ask ourselves on occasion is, What is my mission in life? Not surprisingly, for those of us at Mission Life, this is one of our favorite questions.

What is my mission in life? This question goes so much further than my to-do list and is so much more important than asking, What am I going to do today? Or even this week. Or this year.

The dictionary definition of mission includes the following gems: “an important assignment carried out for political, religious, or commercial purposes, typically involving travel; a strongly felt aim, ambition, or calling.”

These sentiments resonate with our sense of purpose here at Mission Life. Our mission includes spreading the love of Jesus to children in vulnerable communities around the world. It involves sacrifice and giving of time and resources and affection, all in the name of Jesus. Our mission is not simply what we do, but why.

It is our love for God, and our love for people, that provides our sense of mission in life. This is what not only gets us up in the morning but inspires our enthusiasm and hard work and sacrifice.

We are deeply grateful for each of you who come alongside us in this mission.

What is your mission in life? We’d love to hear from you! In a few words, comment below. God bless!
