April 2021 Newsletter

A Message from Angel Galvis, Mission Life Founder & CEO

Confidence! That was the word I received from God last year. As a young organization, it took a lot of confidence in God for us at Mission Life to go through a global pandemic and still thrive. Thanks to your support, our confidence grew day after day, seeing God's plan unfold.

You all came through to aid the children in our centers and the people in these communities whose situations could be deemed substantially worse than many of ours here. Thanks to your generosity, 192,000 meals were provided last year, alleviating the hunger of more than 300 families.

Behind these efforts was an all volunteer team putting in countless hours to make sure your generosity had an impact.

Hope prevailed! 62 children were sponsored in 2020 alone, another 12 in 2021 so far, giving them the opportunity to dream for a better tomorrow.

Mission Life’s efforts to connect with our community and share the needs of children and families across the world brought local businesses, churches and people together, inspired to create change. Our community banded together to help our brothers and sisters in Christ weather the storm of the pandemic.

Our focus for 2021 is already well underway. In January, we regrouped with our global partners to strategize the approach for the next few months to open new centers.

In Kigali, Rwanda, we are happy to report the Child Hope Center is starting to operate again after restrictions and all of the children are now sponsored! Check out the video of them returning to the center here! Meantime, at our second location in the district of Kimironko, 8 out of 15 children have been sponsored. We are looking for 7 more sponsors for this center so we can cover the food needs of these families.

In Colombia, we opened 3 new centers in February!

The new center in Villavicencio is coming along. 50 children are now able to get food after we provided some funds to renovate the kitchen and restart the program. We also opened a center in the coffee region in Genova and a second center in Bogota, just a 5 minute drive from Fundacion Formavida. Learn more about our Child Development Centers.

In Chia, the child center has been able to operate at a limited capacity due to covid restrictions but still, our children are receiving their meals and homework help.

As things start to slowly improve here in the U.S. with the pandemic and more people are vaccinated, keep in mind that it will still take months for economies to bounce back and vaccine supplies to be available for our friends in second and third world countries. Our centers are slowly transitioning from home visits and preparing family meals to welcoming the children back to our centers in small settings. The pandemic wiped out daily structure, routines and normal  ways of doing things. Our global partner staff share our confidence in God and they remain flexible to answer his call. Thank you for your continued support in 2021!
