I started my day praying and meditating at 5:00 am and I shared some time alone with God. Right after we had breakfast, we got ready to go to the municipal dump. At first I wondered how we were going to manage to serve food to people there with all of the garbage around.

When on mission trips, all days are busy but Thursday was especially full. This is my 6th mission trip and I find around this time of the week, most of us are emotionally spent. From the time we woke up, until we went to sleep, we were awake and active for over 18 hours.

I started my day in conversation with Tita, Maria, Cynthia, Jennifer & Angela. On my first day I was a bit shy due to the language barrier. However with the help of the locals and google translator, I am able to make wonderful connections and forever friendships. We shared about our children and showed each other pictures. 25 year old Tita is 7 months pregnant with her third baby. Her daughter will be 8 in a couple of weeks and her son is 7. Tita shared that her husband is currently in rehab and she spoke of the struggles she is currently facing. She has a beautiful community of women who support her. I plan on following up on her journey once I return home.

While we were not allowed to approach any of the prisoners, we delivered the good word to all of them. We brought portable speakers to worship together. We shared our testimonies, and then Angel delivered a message.
